For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • ¼ cup soy sauce (or low-sodium soy sauce)
  • 3 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water

For Garnish:

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken

  • Toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch, salt, and pepper. This creates a crispy texture when stir-fried.

Step 2: Cook the Chicken

  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a wok or skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the chicken and stir-fry for 6-7 minutes until golden brown. Remove and set aside.

Step 3: Stir-Fry the Vegetables

  • In the same pan, add remaining oil and sauté bell peppers, cabbage, and carrots for 3-4 minutes.

Step 4: Prepare the Sauce

  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.

Step 5: Combine Everything

  • Add the cooked chicken back to the pan.
  • Pour the honey garlic sauce over everything and stir well.

Step 6: Thicken the Sauce

  • Stir in the cornstarch slurry and let simmer for 2 minutes, until thickened.
