- 1.1 lbs (500 g) beef steak, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper (optional), sliced
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce (optional)
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp fresh ginger, grated (optional)
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- 1 tsp cornstarch dissolved in 2 tbsp water
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Slice the beef into thin strips and season lightly with salt and pepper. Slice the bell peppers and onion, and mince the garlic.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat.
- Add the beef strips and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Sauté garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add bell peppers and onion. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until tender but still crisp.
- Return the beef to the skillet. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce (if using), sugar, and black pepper. Stir well.
- Pour in the beef broth or water and bring to a simmer. Add the cornstarch mixture and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve hot over steamed white rice or noodles.
