Instructions
- Place chicken in a large pot in a single layer.
- Add water or broth until chicken is fully submerged. Add salt, pepper, onion, garlic, and herbs.
- Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove chicken, rest 5–10 minutes, then slice, shred, or dice.
Notes
Use broth instead of water for more flavor. Don’t skip resting the chicken before slicing to keep it juicy. Save broth for soup or grains.
