Cheesesteak Tortellini in Provolone Sauce – Easy Dinner Recipe

Description

Welcome to a delightful culinary adventure! If you’re craving a comforting meal that’s both satisfying and flavorful, then look no further than this Cheesesteak Tortellini in Provolone Sauce recipe. It’s a fusion of two beloved dishes — the classic Philly cheesesteak and cheesy tortellini — making it the perfect dinner option for your next family meal or dinner party.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 package (20 oz) cheese tortellini
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups provolone cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish

Optional substitutions:

  • For a dairy-free version, substitute provolone cheese with a dairy-free cheese alternative and use coconut cream instead of heavy cream.
  • For a vegetarian alternative, you can replace the beef with a plant-based protein like tofu or tempeh.

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Tortellini

First, cook the cheese tortellini according to the package instructions until they are al dente. Drain the tortellini and set them aside.

Step 2: Brown the Beef

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef sirloin and cook until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.

Step 3: Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add the sliced onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are tender and lightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 4: Make the Sauce

Lower the heat to medium. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and add the heavy cream and shredded provolone cheese. Stir the mixture until the cheese is melted and the sauce becomes creamy.

Step 5: Combine the Tortellini and Sauce

Add the cooked tortellini to the skillet with the creamy cheesesteak mixture. Toss everything together to coat the pasta with the creamy sauce. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

Serve hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and flavor.

Notes

  • Use fresh ingredients: For the best flavor, use fresh beef and vegetables. Fresh garlic and provolone cheese will enhance the dish’s richness.
  • Customize your veggies: If you prefer a different veggie profile, consider adding mushrooms or even spinach to the dish for added flavor.
  • Make it spicy: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes if you want to give your dish a little heat.
