For the Cheesecake Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Blueberry Filling:

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons blueberry juice (from mashed blueberries)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

For Garnish:

  • ¼ cup sliced almonds, toasted

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add warm milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  3. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Step 2: Make the Blueberry Filling

  1. In a small saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon zest.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, until the mixture thickens (about 5 minutes).
  3. Remove from heat and let cool completely.

Step 3: Prepare the Cheesecake Filling

  1. In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

Step 4: Assemble the Rolls

  1. Roll out the dough into a 14×9-inch rectangle.
  2. Spread the cheesecake filling evenly over the dough, followed by the blueberry filling.
  3. Roll the dough tightly from the long side into a log.
  4. Using a sharp knife, cut into 12 even rolls.

Step 5: Second Rise

  1. Arrange the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, leaving space between them.
  2. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 30 minutes.

Step 6: Bake the Rolls

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Bake the rolls for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.

Step 7: Make the Glaze & Garnish

  1. In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, blueberry juice, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls.
  3. Sprinkle with toasted almonds and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh blueberries and high-quality cream cheese will enhance the flavor.
  • Don’t over-knead: Knead until the dough is soft but not sticky. Over-kneading can make it tough.
  • Even slicing: Use unflavored dental floss or a serrated knife to cut perfect rolls.
  • Cool before glazing: Let the rolls cool slightly before adding the glaze to prevent it from melting too quickly.
